Part of the hype and hyperbole from the media during this storms seems to be to try to send a signal that says with a smile, "you aren't alone", everyone is suffering. I was thinking that maybe it would be nice if one of the stations ran something that showed people in some other part of the world having fun, skiing, surfing, hiking, doing something interesting. All of our broadcast channels today are dominated completely either by the storm or religion. So, you can either think about the world as it is, or the end times. You pickem!
Just saw this graphic on our local blog:
I haven't figured out how to position or edit graphics like this, but I guess everyone can get the general drift. As I think I wrote earlier. Florida around Central Florida is probably about 150 miles across as the eagle flies. As you can tell from the outline of the state, and the size of the storm, the storm still seems to be about 300 miles wide.
I still have power, and just got a call from some friends who wanted to know if had power and coffee! Power yes, coffee no! They said the would keep looking.
Just heard that here in Winter Park, FL 32789 we are having sustained winds with gusts to about 80 mph. Next time you are in a convertible get it up to 80 and stick your head above the windshield and you will get a little hint of what's going on outside.
