It's Monday morning, the storm has passed and is heading up to the panhandle across the gulf. The town is a mess, tree limbs down everywhere. I would guess about 80% of Winter Park, FL 32789 is without power. Somehow I got lucky, power, AC and WiFi. I have heard that one grocery store is open, but places like Starbuck's are shut tight. Also there are warnings out that you need to boil water before drinking it. I loaded up on bottled water, so not a problem, and since I have power, boiling it would also not be a problem.
Seems to be serious behavioural problems for those unable to get coffee.
The storm slammed us all night long, the rain and wind was brutal. No reason to be dramatic about it, just comes with living here, although in my 33 years in Florida, I do not recall two storms so devastating and so close together. My friend JD suggested that perhaps it was because Florida voted for Bush in 2000!
I have heard from a number of friends all checking on me. Lots of E-Mail and lots of calls. I have spent a fair amount of time on Skype with friends. Great fun as there was no place to go, and not much to do other than to wait it out.
One thing that was interesting was that our local public TV station ran children's programming for most of two days. I thought was great as all the other channels were running nothing but the weather, so that if you had little kids and power you could park them in front of the public TV.
I just heard that there is no power to fill the tankers from the gasoline storage facilities, so all of the gas stations without gas are going to stay that way. Great time to have a bike!
Not much more to say, trying to get stuff done, and packed for the trip to DemoMobile. The airport opens at noon, and my flight is at 5 P.M.
See you on the left coast!
hey mate, glad to hear you are ok. caught the highlights of the devastation on the Aussie morning news, was worried about you. enjoy demomobile!

Hey Buzz - the storm wasn't much of a deal for us, but Sprint's incapacity to get our phones back is. One would think by now they'd imagine putting electric and phone lines in the ground.
Yes, let's get together when things calm down - I was going to say "die down" but that sounds a bit baleful.
Best to you, - tom
