It's mostly getting better. The real brunt of the storm was first thing this morning. Right now the winders are in the 30-40 mph range, and rain has cut back.
I can hear metal flapping around outside, probably off roofs, gutters or railings. I was mulling over what you need to make it through a hurricane, and concluded that the essentials include:
- A sense of humour
- A sense of timing
- Power
- Food that can be eaten with or without power.
- Net access is nice, as they don't deliver the Sunday N.Y. Times during a hurricane.
- A few DVDs help, I just watched "The Last Samurai" and "Taking Lives", enjoyed both, but equally glad that I paid $4 at Blockbuster and not twice that at the theaters.
- A little imagination, i.e. being able to entertain your self, as going out side isn't an option.
- On further reflection cable TV would have been nice, as the on-air TV guys are all trying for Emmy's showing the damage, beach erosion, or showing how hard the wind is blowing.
I am sure other items will get added to the list. The curfew ends at 5 P.M. I am looking forward to getting out and seeing how Winter Park, FL 32789 has fared.
