Hot, humid, miserable.
Some people are beginning to get their power back. The local blog wrote the other day that people are bonding. I think that bonding lasts about 48 hours, then reality sets in.
When you don't get much sleep, and the sleep you do get is not very comfortable, the good humor drifts away. I had an offer to sleep at a friends newly air conditioned house last night, and concluded that my own bed, albeit un-air conditioned, was a better choice. Big mistake!
And the mistake was further compounded by the fact that at 5:00 A.M. my phone rang. I scrambled in the darkness to find it, only to listen to a tape message from the City of Winter Park, FL 32789 that power would be back in 7-10 days, but not later than this Saturday, i.e. you do the math, and that I should boil water before drinking it.
Let me see if I get this right, no power, but be sure to boil your water. So much for thoughtful editing of the Voice-Mail recording. 37 minutes later my cell phone went off, same message. Glad they have my number, I wonder if anyone looked at the clock when they started the city wide auto-dialer.
Best I can tell the number of folks who have come to my blog in the last 24 hours is over 2,000.
Thanks for the pointage to my friends Robert Scoble and Dave Winer!
I know that Dave has mulled over moving to Florida for a while. Dave....wait till after hurricate season!
I also see that Dave is promoting Bloggercon III at Stanford.
I plan to try to be there. To hang out with the bloggerati! It would have been an easy decision to be there this week, but by November my power should be back on......
