Last night at Zap, we were all talking, and one of the really talented young guys named Steve Garrity is currently creative director at silverorange, came up with a great metaphor for blogging, i.e.
"If blogs are printing presses, and if Big Media is the Catholic Church, then clearly Dave Winer, must be Martin Luther!"
For the record, I was summarizing a point by Rob Paterson and the "if big media is the catholic church" was something like "if disney is the vatican". Great talk, Buzz!

What ever happened to Luther? Wasn't it something painful?

As far as I know, Dave was not one of the four who wrote the modern 95 theses. (cluetrain.com)
