I never spoke to a Black person until the day I started college. There weren’t any Black people in Northern Minnesota. As my first Black friend Geoff Harding said, “Black people were smarter than that”.
I have had the honor since then to have a number of wonderful Black friends.
Tonight at the gym the TV was on, and Barack Obama was speaking. A Black man changing next to me said that he never thought that he would see the day when a Black name was nominated to be president of the United States, nor did I.
