Q… Why aren’t the social networks more open?
Facebook…letting a lot of other people build inside Facebook, the theory is that those applications will be able to transition between networks.
Myspace… complicated issue from privacy issues.
Ning.. one sign on for managing different networks. Identity that you want may change in the other communities that you are in.
Wallop…Social networks of the future are going to be very light weight.
Demand.. ability to log in with one identity and then be able to select. Value to keep a unique identity on each site.

Myspace….advertising going to be here for a long time. 120 million people coming to the site! How do you create e-commerce models around social networking. You always feel better buying from a trusted source.
Wallop…Work on the idea that self expression is a very powerful idea. Sees a world, where you buy the things to dress up the profile. Very similar to the ring-tone model.
Ning…Pick targeted advertising over say ring-tone model. Advertising is keyword based.
What is social networking going to look like ten years out?
Wallop…Either a big change, whole new generation will say, this isn’t working, and whammo something will happen. Predicting is hard, inventing is easier.
Demand… Growth will be in the vertical, different demographic.
Myspace, 75% over 18, 50% over 35. Seeing a trend that more and more people who are older are using it and having fun.
Ning…teachers are participating while trying to ban Myspace at their schools. Global phenomenon with age!
Myspace… open platform since day !.
Facebook…lot of value that you can add to your business contacts.
Myspace…More about the tool set!
Facebook… Exchange is really more about a social network.
Wallop… Value in the organization is the people, solved by social networks? Social networks provide opportunity for people to interact.
What’s missing?
Ning…lot of stuff that people want is happening now! within 12 months, it will be there.
Demand… Real opportunity is content made for the Internet. Lot of value in Internet made content. Huge communication device, and not a lot of good content!
Myspace.. Big companies have had trouble making traction, because they don’t understand the market!
