Say it isn't so Dave....

Dave Winer has indicated that he may stop blogging.

I am a big fan of Dave’s work and writing. Dave’s blog is one of the few that I read outside my aggregator. When I first got into blogging, I resolved that I was going to read all the blogs of the really smart people out there, and Dave was on my personal “A” list.

I first encountered Dave when he built “More”, which I thought then and think now was one of the finest applications ever built for the Mac. I just took a quick look for “More”, but couldn’t find it. I am not sure that there has ever been a better outliner application built. I was at the Hillside Club in Berkeley last year when Dave gave a truly brilliant presentation of OPML.

Why Dave suggests that blogging doesn’t need him anymore, my take is that we need Dave’s ideas and energy to make us think, and to stimulate us all to be more creative and imaginative. Dave has served as a critically important catalyst for a lot that has happened in the past few years, and I hope he will stay in the mix.

If he writes less, that will be fine with me, but my plea is to just stay with it, and keep the energy flowing!
