After wrapping up DemoFall, I decided to buy a car in Seattle, and drive to Pop!Tech. Easy rationalization, I had a few weeks open in my schedule, and I wanted to call on our customers as I drove across America. The drive from Seattle to Yakima to Boise was great! Beautiful country and beautiful weather. I drove through a part of the country that I had never seen before. Simple schedule, drive for 4 hours +/-, grab some WiFi, work for a couple of hours, then drive another four, etc.
Today I am in Salt Lake City. This is an interesting city, clean as can be, and very prosperous. I had great meetings with the Utah State Bar, a couple of big law firms and the City of Salt Lake. All use ActiveWords, and all considering expanding their site licenses.
While we live in this digital world, there is nothing quite like face to face contact with your customers. Listening to their issues, answering their questions, and showing them new ideas is always a positive experience.
Tomorrow I am meeting with FranklinCovey to show them our tablet agent, and then on to NextPage to compare notes. I have met the NextPage team twice. They have some interesting technology. I always try to support the companies that support us.
Then I am headed to Breckenridge, Colorado to hang out with a great friend. It should be dazzling to drive through the Rockies on a beautiful day.
I guess buying a car would be a bit cheaper than buying a jet :-)
Let me know when you're back in O-town.
