PopTech! Saturday late morning...

Ethan Zuckerman...huge amount energy. He's on a roll.

Geekcorps...

You got to have geeks, few geeks in Africa, geeks beget geeks. Geek + Plane Ticket=Geek in Africa.

Geekery one of the last great apprenticeship industry.

Four part digital divide...

Electricity

Got go get the points.

Some great maps of how the N.Y. Times covers the world as adjusted for population. Surmised, follow the money. Over dog and under dog nations. BBC happy side of state run media, Pravda is the not happy side.

Another great talk, I need to re-listen to it.

David Bornstein...writing about social entrepreneurs.

Gramine Bank .... asks people to join groups. Moral and social collateral.

Social entrepreneurs around the world. Absolutely charming young man. Pin ball machine metaphor, taking energy from carroming off the "no's".. Solar power, "sunshines for all". Social entrepreneurs have the vision, but they have to have the ability to execute.

Child service woman social entrepreneur in Bombay. Problem...agencies not working together. 1098...three years to get a number. Child Line

If this is the way that social change happens. What should we be teaching people. Social change occurs...we now have blue prints for social change. Biggest thing is the ability to cause change. All social change comes because people believe it is possible. Use what is dominant in a culture and use it.

Why doesn't our government do more of this....

Boy, ...I hope these talks are archived so that we can listen to them later.
